Global warming - Lighting load

Global Warming.
There are several elements warming our globe ! Each one of us contribute to this. One among them, certainly not insignificant, is the lighting. We use large amounts of energy for lighting, which later gets to heating our environment. Solutions to global warming, let us say, starts here.
There are many possible ways to reduce the lighting loads (a global load) . One among them is, as all experts recommend, is to use CFLs instead of regular bulbs. This is not aimed at reducing the electricity consumption only !
I am aware that solution to global warming should start with me ( everyone). This suggests that I should be interested in using less energy. Yes, but this need should be motivated by lower costs too. If it costs more to consume less energy, who would be interested ? Unfortunately, that’s the status now.

Comparison of Incandescent bulbs (Bulb) Vs Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL).

Bulb CFL
Price Rs. 20/ for 40 W Rs.120/- for 8 W
Light output (equal) 40 W 8 W
Life ( over 3 to 4 hrs daily use) > 2 years ~ 1 year

Total cost for bulb for 2years is actually less than Total cost of CFL for 2 years.
With the current energy charges, we could see that we actually pay more if using the CFL( because initial cost of CFL is very haigh). Then why should one go for CFL ? I consume less ( 1/5th ) power (Nation gains, I am happy). But I pay 12 times more for the lamp ( I lose, and so unhappy). This is the simple reason, why many are not opting for CFLs. Solution is : I should not lose more. Make available CFLs cheap. Produce CFLs in large quantities costing less than the ordinary bulbs.

Chinese made CFLs are available here at less than Rs. 60/- But their life is too short. However, this suggests that CFLs can certainly be made available at much cheaper rates. Our Government should invest in mass producing cheap good quality CFLs.
A fraction of the amount for loan waivers (which does no good to any one including those beneficiaries (?) ) would be enough to do this. The returns are tremendous, in cash and kind.
Please give me an opportunity to contribute in resolving global warming !
