What's RAM and RAT ?

RAM and RAT ? What is RAM to do with RAT ? A few asked me these questions. But I didn’t explain them.

RAM stands for Random Access Memories, and RAT stands for Random Access Thoughts. This is evident from the Blog title.

But, to many, RAM denotes the limited and temporary memory associated with the processor of a Computer. Yes, here too it's of the same nature.

RAT is the larger kind of the mouse. The rat is famous for its characteristic 'poking' into anything. I too am trying to poke.

RAM is about the memories I access from my past, the history. No one can change the history, it's static. It’s all happened, certain and are hard facts. We can only narrate and review; put them to the audience.

RATs are about the future. They are forecasts of status and happenings, possible or not. There’s no certainty about the RATs. And so, we keep changing them, and the visualizations. RATs are dynamic.

Now that I combine the past and the future, its also about the present. We all (should) live in the present. That’s where we need to integrate the past and future. RAM and RAT does just that.

Does that suggest RAM and RAT are contradictory ideas ? No way ! In fact, they are closely related. It's the integration of the static and dynamic ideas.

This world, and our life is random. We can see randomness in everything, all aspects of life. Had it been systematic, anything would have been predictable, precisely. But, in reality, nothing is predictable. Uncertainties are the only certainty. But we all attempt to see systemic changes. And this rarely happens. Life is a mixture of good and bad. All goods and all bads hardly happen. The blend is, the reality is, always random.

This blog, RAMandRAT, is an attempt to be a transaction of life, with its uncertainty and randomness in its core. It’s a blend of the good and the bad stuff. It’s idiotic and intelligent. It’s past and future. It’s mine and your’s. And that's why RAMandRAT is random in its presentation and behaviour.
