March 6, 2008. 'The Hindu' presented a small news item (in Newscape), with reference to the CeBIT IT fair.
For digital gadgets hot and weird.
" Californean firm Ugobe presented a small robotic dinausaur dubbed PLEO, similar to Sony's AIBO robotic dog that has to be looked after and nurtured like a Tamagochi. Pleao too can be programmed via a USB cable connected to your Computer...
The Pleo is a green and brown pet... "
The green and brown look ! That's my point now. Aibo had the look of a machine, not really the look of a live being. Probably, that's Aibo's weakness. When I met Aibo (only through the net !), I suggested Sony (through an email ) to think of putting a good looking coat for Aibo; a fur coat tailored to match in color and look. But, may be, the message didn't reach Sony. May be that they thought Aibo should look like a machine (for being serious !) only, and should NOT look like a silly play item (like a teddy bear !). But I still beleive, Aibo must have a lovely doggy skin !
Pleo, I am sure, would be liked by many; its going to be a success ( except for its weird Dinausaur look !!)
