What's the tree ?

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) started in the 1850s, when brokers met under a banyan tree.
The Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE)  dates back to the 1830s, when brokers met under a neem tree.
The Cochin Stock Exchange (CSE) started in the 1970s, when brokers met under a mango tree.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) was set up in 1992, when brokers met under a ? tree.

World Environment Day & Twin Konna.

Today is World Environment Day.








































































This is the story of two Konna trees. The twin Konnas, right in front of my home, were happy. And I too, as it gave me good shade (from the hot sun) and some greenery in my front yard (soothing to my eyes). But the happiness was short lived.
They had to be trimmed off their heads ! The electricity lines closeby demanded that. I had no option but to cut their heads. But I kept their headless body, the trunks.
And now, the nature is blessing me. New buds are coming up on from the truncated trunks. I hope they'll grow well and fast. I am in need of some protection from my Twin Konna.

Konna saves me, though I couldn't save the Konna.
Dear all, plant a tree a week. They will save you for years !
Let's all create our environment , a green and happy environment.

Trees and Accidents

The 'tree lovers' all over the world must be very sad. But the 'bus passengers' at Vellayambalam ( Trivandrum) are very happy.
Our City Corporation is quite funny (.. ayyo.. is that the right word ? ) . They made a bus-bay two years back. But no bus ever stopped here. There were three huge trees. Last week, they have cut them. Look at the left overs.




















Another scene of the 'kill' . But please see the trap to kill ! A wide road, and no divider. An electric post at the middle. Speeding vehicles can hit the post any moment ! Some Policeman understood it, and he put a few red pegs there. Let's all pray ... nothing happens there.

Murder continued

The nature was weeping throughout these days. It was on Monday and Tuesday last. The incident is the cruelty of mankind against trees. But I know, it can't help. There is no better choice than cutting off. and that happened.
At the VJT hall junction, in front of the University College, on the foot path, stood the trees, with majestic looks. They were killed last day. The pictures show their body being removed from the road ! And the tears pour even now !
